I am now and advocate for MBTs

I just want to thank the inventor of the technology. Since fracturing my right heel, fracturing and dislocating left ankle, fracturing left knee amongst other injuries in a motor vehicle accident in 1981, I have been left with substantial pain in both feet as a result. This was also compounded by a hereditary bunion on right big toe. It was only recently that I finally gave up on all treatments such as orthotics, pain killers, cortisone etc , I even tried acupuncture, and tried MBTs at the suggestion of foot and ankle surgeon Dr Linda Ferris in Adelaide. They must be good as Linda also wears them at work. It improved my gait and reduced pressure on the arthritic big toe joint, however did not completely resolve pain issues in ankle joints. I did finally relent and have sub-talar fusion on right foot plus bunionectomy, and talo-navicular fusion on left. But, the MBT's allowed me to become mobile relatively quickly and reduce the force on the forefoot and allow me to gently rock forward with each step. I now own a black pair for work, blue walking shoes and brown leather sandals for casual. Not cheap, but compared with the money I have wasted trying shoes that I thought would eventually wear in, it has been worth it. I am now an advocate for MBTs. Thank you Judy .A Adelaide

Stress on my lower back has decreased

I have suffered with bad lower back pain for a couple of years and have not found any treatment helpful so far. Within a few days of wearing my MBTs I noticed a great reduction in pain and I was able to move more freely. The stress on my lower back has decreased to a manageable level and so has my need to take anti-inflammatory medication (Voltarin). I wear my MBTs as my main pair of shoes now and I'm planning to buy another pair in the near future. Thanks again for your help. Regards,

    Slimming Shoes Review

I was told from the start...."the best way is to try them" - and now I couldn't agree more and will be the bearer of this to others! To be honest, I thought they'd be a gimmick, another miracle product that was out on the market. I was proven wrong; and by my own feet! When i first put them on, I felt like i Was walking on the moon- they were 'bouncy' almost, so light, yet so comforting - I honestly didn't think this feeling would last, but every time I put them on, they still feel amazing!

    I love the difference

hi, I have just bought my first pair of MBT’s and just love the difference it makes to my walk, I heard about them after having a serious horse accident, being kicked on the shin and having recurring sciatica problem thereafter...and the one foot drop a bit, so the roll effect really helps and will strengthen the ligaments. I have struggled for nearly a year trying to walk without falling, due to muscle wastage in my one leg and a drop foot...the MBT’s are the first shoe to make me feel like I wanted to walk the extra mile, I never take them off and will get another pair for best.

    Life begins at 40!

I had seen your shoes in the past but thought I would not spend that much on one pair of shoes, recently a gentleman at work was wearing a pair of shoes after speaking to him I purchased two pairs last week. One thing is for sure I will find it somewhat hard to wear so called normal shoes again. P.s I have a fused right ankle the operation was done 12 years ago. I have tried all types of shoes and insoles costing me a arm and a leg, at last I'm very happy I can now even jog. I'm aged 40+. Due to MBTs, I can truly say life begins at 40. Next week I will show my physio what real shoes are..... Thanks a lot.

    Delighted with the results

My daughter suffers from Autism, Tourette's syndrome, is profoundly deaf and has a form of Jevenile Parkinson's disease, which has caused severe problems with toe walking, shuffling of the feet and the development of a wide gait while walking and also has severe "balance issues". Over the years we have tried various methods of assistance for her walking problems including many specialist doctors, different kinds of Orthotics and several different medications which have assisted for a while but not anything that we could really say was a significant improvement for her. We are delighted with the results of MBT... immediately upon fitting MBT, my daughter has not worn any other shoe since. She has an inner sense of what is right for her and is not hesitant in letting us know that she is either going to accept what she is given or totally reject it - in this case she has taken to these shoes with great delight and it has improved her walking dramatically. Her gait has straightened; she is able to walk further than before and is flexing her knees now. Her massage therapist has noticed increased flexibility and her hamstrings can now be stretched quite a lot further".

MBTs changed my quality of life!

"After receiving a serious head injury my spine went into chronic spasm. Four months into my recovery I was introduced to MBT. At this point I still had no diagnosis, however spinal damage and neurological damage was suspected. I received a pair of MBTs and my life changed. Instantly the chronic spasms in my spine began to diminish. At this point I could only walk a maximum of 800 metres. With every day of MBT exercise I could walk further. My pain levels began to fall. I could concentrate better and finally after 2 months I am now cycling, swimming and preparing to start work again. I can't thank MBT enough for the support they provide - this is one of those few companies that put people and service first. What a gift to the world - thank you MBT".

    Straight talk about love

Attention lads - slouching is not only bad for your back, it can also be detrimental to your love life. Research reveals women are drawn to men who walk tall, with their back straight and bottom tucked in. So while some may think it's cool to slouch - like Eminem and Chris Brown - they are mistaken. A study by footwear company MBT showed 94 per cent of women surveyed found "knuckle dragging" male celebs unattractive. So does that count for serial female slumpers such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Mary- Kate Olsen, right, Ashlee Simpson and Vanessa Hudgens? Finesse Models director Brigette Mitchell said: "Slouching detracts from the overall presence of a man ... they simply don't look as hot." North Adelaide-based remedial therapist Ben Kilsby - crooner/guitarist for local band The Happy Leonards - warned poor posture could also have serious repercussions for the back and other parts of the body.

    AIS Paralympic Coach Alison O'Riordan

MBTs and Australia’s finest Paralympic athletes I currently coach a squad of elite athletes with cerebral palsy based at the AIS in Canberra. Most of them are Paralympic medalists, world champions, and world record holders. The level and depth of Paralympic competition is increasing all the time. To keep ahead of the rest of the world and to maintain Australia’s world status, I continually seek new and innovative modes of training. I recently read an article about MBT and was interested in the claims that they made. Many of these fitted identically with the neurological impairments that are associated with cerebral palsy. These include: * Inability to activate postural muscles in anticipation of voluntary movement. * Diminished proprioception, and difficulties in memorising a suitable movement pattern * Restricted range of movement in many joints including the ankle, knee and hip. It is anticipated that regular use of MBTs as a training tool will improve the walking gait and posture of my athletes. It will also encourage the appropriate recruitment of proprioceptive muscles. These attributes combined should help them to better perform the movements and actions required for Paralympic success at the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games. AUS Triathlon Coach

While attending a ITU Triathlon World Cup Race in Kitzbuhel. Austria, on July 22, 2007, with some of my elite athletes I was advised to try MBTs. Though known to be somewhat of a self-healer and quite skeptical of new innovations. I had a quite serious problem with my left foot, and calf, due to an injury caused by a Taxi running over my foot while in Sydney, back in June 2002.I became interesting in trying these. Though many had told me that I would most likely have a permanent limp and not be totally free of pain and problems with this; I worked many hours stretching and exercising this myself until it became somewhat pain free; well that was until this year. As MBT had a sale area at the above race, I decided to try these special shoes out. Now whereas the people there were helpful they were trying to tell me, what I needed and that my present shoes were wrong for me actually telling me they were too big in size, a point I dismissed, after all I had been around long enough to know what I needed in a pair of shoes...I thought! On my return to Australia, my foot and leg was getting worse so I made a few phone calls finishing up at the MBT headquarters on the Manly Warringah Peninsular after speaking to some of their staff and having a few things pointed out to me. The first and most important being you “must be fitted to these shoes”, they must fit right, before we will sell to you. Well that won me over service and someone interested in helping me find what I should/could be wearing. Now the problem I though was how do I try these and get them fitted. Mr Stewart we will have somebody phone you later this week, I explained I was heading overseas again at the end of the next week and would have liked to travel these with me if they helped my leg. Two days later, two of the staff from the MBT outlet in Sydney arrived on the Gold Coast with many shoes for me to try. For over an hour I was taught how to walk in these shoes and advised that wearing them 30mins a day would be enough for the first weeks as my legs would get a bit sore adjusting to the straight, upright stance, soft sand type walking, and posture, one must use when wearing them. I left Australia with one pair of the MBT shoes and a pair of sandals (which I am always wearing) After the first week, I hardly had them off my feet. Comfort and the fact that my leg was getting much better, are just some of the points that has won me over. I had two of my athletes try these shoes, both have had great success from using them; one a swimmer changing over to triathlon had a foot problem caused from running. Now in just 6 short weeks he has been able to take his weekly mileage up over double. The other a high profile elite female triathlete uses these to ease any aches and pains from training, with great success. I would personally recommend that any body, but in particular athletes use these shoes. They certainly have my seal of approval.

    Canadian Ski Team

After working as a dryland coach for now 15 years in high performance ski racing all over the world, I can say that most athletes in alpine ski racing tend to get tight muscles in their legs and around their pelvic girdle. This can lead to a reduced ability of extending their hip joints and of hyper extending their lower back. If one doesn't work against that tendency, back pain is just a question of time. With the MBT shoe, we have a powerful tool to teach the athletes how to extend their hips again. Just by walking or jogging with MBT shoes, some athletes find their back pain dramatically reduced because the shoes help them regain their natural movement patterns. The balance point of the MBT shoe is exactly where the projection of the tibula and the fibula touches the ground. This spot is also the ideal balance point in the ski boot. So for athletes having troubles with leaning too far forward or backward, the MBT shoe can be an important tool to help find that spot. The MBT shoes enrich dryland training but they can also help alleviate travel stiffness in the lower legs during travelling. For me, MBT shoes are an important tool in the pursuit of excellence. "I am a raging fan"

"I am a raging fan of MBT shoes. The best way for me to endorse their value and attributes is to speak from personal experience {I have been wearing these shoes for almost 12 months now}. In November 2008 I visited Dove Lake in Tasmania and walked {comfortably} right round the Lake in about 21/2 hours. Twelve months ago I wouldn't have even contemplated such an activity. I also missed the entire 2007/ 08 Lawn Bowls season because of painful legs. With the advent of wearing MBTs, I am now back playing competition bowls twice per week and practicing twice per week....all in good comfort. Without hesitation, MBTs have given me a new lease of life, for which I will always be eternally grateful. I just wanted to share the {MBT} secret". BARRIE ROBRAN Australian Football Legend

    It's a miracle!

It’s a Miracle! As an infant 38 years ago, I had corrective surgery on my feet to enable me to walk. Since that time my feet have always been very well cared for and have been inside good quality shoes. Over the past few years, post pregnancy and childbirth, my feet have taken a turn for the worst. I lived in constant pain as my feet have no heel pads. First thing in the morning I would have to crawl around on my hands and knees until my feet and ankles would warm up. Then after caring for two young children all day, my feet were so sore by the afternoon I could hardly bear to take another step. I followed the professional advice I was given, I strapped my heels; I never went around in bare feet; I always wore good quality cushioned shoes. Frankly this was supposedly ‘as good as it gets’ …… or was it? I was in so much pain I was exhausted and irritable, I was desperate, I needed a miracle. The miracle came to me in the shape of my MBT physiological footwear. After a few days of wearing my MBTs, I no longer had any foot or ankle pain. Wearing MBTs is like walking on air. I have a spring in my step and energy to burn; not to mention the added bonus of toned legs and torso. My feet crave to be in my MBTs and I now find greater joy in chasing around after my two young boys. They have changed my life and my only wish now is that I had found them sooner. Thank you MBT, for my miracle. Yours sincerely, Anne Juillerat

Office Workers need to keep moving for healthy future

OBESITY is not an excuse for obesity. While Stanthorpe Podiatrist Vincent Young agreed that joint rigidity and arthritis, which can be brought on by carrying too much weight while exercising, can affect weight-loss methods like walking and running, there are many factors contributing to obesity. "Running and walking are not the only ways to lose weight," Mr Young said. "While there is a need to increase physical activity, other factors like lifestyle, a proper healthy diet, and psychological counselling are all needed. "There is no quick fix." This response follows information released by specialist footwear company MBT Australia general manager Simon Cron as part of Foot Health Week from October 12 to 18. Mr Cron said excess weight puts pressure on thejoints in the foot and can lead to problems in the way the foot aligns and functions. "Links between obesity and foot damage is especially disconcerting, leaving many people at risk of developing abnormalities," Mr Cron said. "Obese people develop wider, longer feet and tend to have problems balancing and walk at a slower pace," Mr Cron said. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics as many as 72 per cent of middle-aged men and 58% of middle-aged women are overweight or obese. The causes of the obesity epidemic will be addressed in Brisbane next week with Professor Marc Hamilton of the Pennington Biomedical Research Centre, Louisiana USA, a keynote speaker in the Be Active conference. Professor Hamilton says there are different pathological effects caused by sitting too much that cannot be cured by typical exercise training. "Sitting too much is not the same as exercising too little," Professor Hamilton said. He links too much sitting to increased rates of obesity, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, some cancers, and cardiovascular disease - even when subjects are meeting guidelines for physical activity. Further research into the adverse health affects of sitting time in older adults to be presented at the Conference from the Cancer Prevention Research Centre at The University of Queensland and the Melbourne Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes Institute confirms this. The research shows that sitting time, independent of physical activity, is detrimentally associated with central adiposity (the distribution of fat around the abdomen commonly)for both men and women; and the metabolic syndrome, which is associated with cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes, in women only. These findings provide further evidence that programs to improve the cardio-metabolic health of older adults should include a focus on reduced sitting.

MBTs have given me a fitter and happier future

MBTs, their beneficial effect on my increasingly disabling knee pain has been little short of miraculous. I have been a GP for 30 years and recently retired on health grounds having needed heart surgery and walking was to be the mainstay of my fitness programme. However over the last 4 months both knees have become stiff, painful and increasingly swollen. Taking prescribed anti inflammatories, diclofenac, made the pain bearable and knee supports made little or no difference. Within a couple of hours of wearing these trainers the pain started to disappear and now only a week later I am off all painkilling drugs and doing 15 minutes brisk treadmill walking with no bother at all. As an older and supposedly worldly wise GP I am a natural sceptic but I offer this unsolicited praise because I am so surprised and pleased by the fact that these MBTs have given me a fitter and happier future. Thank you. Dr Peter .T.

One thing I can't stand is people slouching, so when a pair of MBTs came across my desk, promising to correct my posture, I was only to keen to try. Inspired by the Masai tribe who are constantly challenged by natural terrain, the MBTs unique curved sole creates instability on flat ground. The result, strengthens and tones leg, stomach, posterior and back muscles. I've been wearing mine for two weeks, and I can already feel a marked improvement.

combat the pain of walking with severely arthritic toe joints and a Neuroma. They are wonderful!

I have started using MBT shoes to help me combat the pain of walking with severely arthritic toe joints and a Neuroma. I have started using MBT shoes to help me combat the pain of walking with severely arthritic toe joints and a Neuroma. They are wonderful! From being practically immobile I have just returned from a holiday walking in the Atlas Mountains and suffered no ill effects whatever. My first purchase was a pair of trainers, quickly followed by sandals. I have now bought a pair of boots as we live on Exmoor and I can start to enjoy the countryside again. Also we take Safari. During my last holiday I was so thankful that I regularly remarked 'I love my shoes!'
